Cell viability studies. Cytotoxicity of self-agglomerating nanoparticles on A549 and H23 cells analyzed by WST-1 assay. Results indicate the cell viability (%) level (an average of three separate samples on the plate), which relates to the amount of live or viable cells for each treated sample at various concentrations (0.3, 3, and 30 μM) for 48 h. The results are mean ± SD, representative of three independent experiments (n = 3). **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, compared with control. A The A549 cells were cultured with (1) HA solution, (2) SAHNs, (3) ISHNs, and (4) irinotecan at 0.3 to 30 µM concentration for 48 h to examine the cell viability by WST-1 assay. B The H23 cells were cultured with (1) HA solution, (2) SAHNs, (3) ISHNs, and (4) irinotecan at 0.3 to 30 µM concentration for 48 h to examine the cell viability by WST-1 assay. Abbreviation: HA, hyaluronic acid; SAHNs, self-agglomerating hyaluronan nanoparticles; ISHNs, irinotecan-loaded self-agglomerating hyaluronan
